February is American Heart Month!
February is American Heart Month and the perfect
time to learn about how to keep your heart healthy.
Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans, and research
suggests that uncontrolled high
blood pressure and
obesity are contributing factors
to the development of the disease.
Many of the factors that lead to heart disease, such as high
blood pressure, high blood
cholesterol, and obesity, can be controlled with common
sense steps and healthy lifestyles, including diet, exercise, and
taking
CardioTrim supplements.
American Heart Month began in February 1963. Its purpose is to
raise awareness about heart disease through education about its
risks, its causes, and the ways to reduce the chances of developing
this deadly illness.
An estimated 72 million Americans have high blood pressure, and
nearly one third of them aren't even aware they have it. More than
79 million Americans live with some sort of heart disease, and it
remains the leading cause of death in the United States. The good
news is there are steps people can take to improve their heart
health.
A good diet is essential for heart
health. A heart healthy diet is also low in cholesterol. Our bodies
need cholesterol to make certain hormones and to provide cell
structure. Cholesterol is naturally formed in our bodies when we
don’t take it in through our diet. Therefore, the cholesterol we
ingest through the food we eat is above and beyond what we need.
High amounts of dietary cholesterol can increase the chances of
developing cardiovascular disease.
Everyone is aware of the benefits of
exercise, but surprisingly, a high
percentage of adults exercise very little, if at all! And you can’t
have a healthy heart without maintaining its strength and endurance.
Heart disease is no longer considered a condition that affects
only the elderly. An increase in deaths is now being observed among
groups as young as 15-34 years old. Heart disease occurs when plaque
builds up in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. This can
then lead to a heart attack.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States,
claiming 817,500,000 lives each year, which is over 36% of all
deaths in the country. During American
Heart Month, we renew our commitment to fighting cardiovascular
disease by increasing public awareness of this deadly disease and
how it can be prevented.
