phytoestrogens
Phytoestrogens are used in the
Women’s Formula
of the
CardioTrim health
supplement line.
Resveratrol and Women’s Health
The CardioTrim Women’s Formula contains a high potency,
standardized Polygonum cuspidatum root extract (trans-Resveratrol
or Resveratrol), a powerful
antioxidant and cardio-protectant that contains 50% phystoestrogens
(natural plant estrogens).
As a phytoestrogen, it helps maintain
normal estrogen activity, reduces hot flashes, balances mood swings
and promotes healthy bone density. Derived from the root of
Polygonum cuspidatum, an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine,
this resveratrol extract contains more than 1,000-times the amount of the same
antioxidant ingredient in red wine that is believed to promote
cardiovascular health and reduce the effects of premature aging.
Phytoestrogens are substances in plants that mimic the effects of
human estrogen in the body. Their chemical structures are similar to
human estrogen and capable of binding to estrogen receptors, forming
active phytoestrogen-receptor complexes capable of inducing
estrogen-like activity. Phytoestrogens have been present in
the human diet for thousands of years. Estrogen is an important
hormone to all female mammals. But other mammals do not experience
the same problems of estrogen deficiency as humans do. The
incidence of problems associated with estrogen deficiency is far
greater in North American, Western European and Australian women
than they are in Asian, Central American and Mediterranean women.
Research suggests that the reasons for this appear to be related to
the diet of these cultures, the difference being in the amount of
plant estrogens or “phytoestrogens” consumed.
Phytoestrogens are thought to be a source of natural estrogens
the human body has come to rely on to supplement the declining
levels of estrogen naturally produced by a women's body in midlife
and beyond. This trans-resveratrol or resveratrol is a powerful phytoestrogen that
have been shown to bind to the Human Estrogen Receptor and enhance
estrogen-like activity in the body, without causing any of the side
effects associated with synthetic hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
These phytoestrogens also have the added benefit of being powerful
antioxidants, which provides cellular protection against
environmental pollutants and prevents the effects of premature
aging. The principal phytoestrogens in this extract helps to reduce
numerous symptoms associated with menopause, including effects on
blood pressure, bone strength, cholesterol levels, oxidative damage
and free radical injury.
