New Study Demonstrates Weight Loss and Health Benefits of CardioTrim™

A new human clinical study has shown that Cissus quadrangularis, a key ingredient in Soy Labs’ CardioTrim™ product line, produces significant weight loss, lowers blood sugar and reduces total and LDL (bad) cholesterol. Results of the double-blind, placebo-controlled study were presented at the First World Congress on Therapies Against Obesity earlier this year in Paris. The study was presented by lead researcher, Dr. Julius Oben, head of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Yaounde in Cameroon. The six-week study produced a mean weight loss for the Cissus quadrangularis (Cissus CQR-300) group of 10.6 pounds compared with a gain of 2.6 pounds for the control group. The Cissus CQR-300 group also experienced a reduction in BMI (4.1 percent), fasting blood glucose (14.6 percent), total cholesterol (18.0 percent), LDL (bad) cholesterol (29.0 percent), triglycerides (21.6 percent), and plasma malondialdehyde/fat metabolites (45.5 percent). The Cissus CQR-300 group experienced an increase of 21.1 percent in HDL (good) cholesterol, 53.3 percent in 5-hydroxytryptamine/serotonin (5-HT) and a 23.5 percent increase in serum creatinine, an indicator of muscle building. The placebo group experienced none of these benefits except a slight decrease in triglycerides of 3.3 percent and a 17.0 percent increase in 5-HT.

“These results provide solid support for the efficacy of Cissus quadrangularis as both an aid for weight management and support for cardiovascular health and blood sugar regulation,” stated Dr. Oben.

The study included 68 obese patients (84 percent women), aged 19 to 50 years old, and ranging in weight from 155.6 to 313 pounds; BMIs ranged from 27.0 – 48.65 kg/m2. The test group received 300 milligrams of a standardized, patented Cissus quadrangularis plant extract (Cissus CQR-300) in two equal doses before meals, while the control group received a placebo. All were directed to maintain their normal diets and level of physical activity. “We are gratified by the results of this latest research,” stated Soy Labs President Ryan Schmidt. “Along with our proprietary AlbumaSoy™, Cissus (CQR-300) is a key ingredient in our CORE™ formula, the foundation for our family of CardioTrim™ products.”
